Our sponsor is having a giveaway!

Competitive Edge has been so gracious to allow the Funky Junk Sisters to use their warehouse for our show, we decided to give them a little recognition. They are a fabulous facility that focuses on youth athletics. They specialize in non sports specific training that includes speed/agility and core workouts. They also offer specific training in most sports, their highly recognized highschool football combine in May has helped many players receive college scholarships. Check out their website and blog for more info.

They have partnered with the Puyallup School District to offer Fit For Life programs on Wednesdays. The staff at Competitive Edge genuinely care about kids and hold them to high standards by expecting them to stay fit. Any Company that does that is good in our book!

Visit their blog for your chance to enter their giveaway!

I Need This Book

Who would think that a book about sheds would be this wonderful? Recently I have been trying to convince my hubby that we need a shed for our backyard. I have given him all kinds of reasons why we need it, but I really want it all to myself. He is not taking the bait.

I dream of a place to create, to plant, to paint, to relax...

Something as simple as this little darling.

I think I will have a better chance of convincing hubby if I take the same angle this guy did. He made a shed to house his little pub in the backyard. I see it is equipped with a hammock.... I'm sure he has a flat screen in there somewhere too. I know hubby will go for this one. I will keep you posted on my progress!
Til next time,
Linda

Vendor Spotlight on Todays Country Store in Sumner,WA

Have you ever been to Sumner, Washington? Well if you have you will know what we mean when we say that it is the cutest place on earth. When you walk the streets of downtown you feel like you have turned back time by 50 years. Our favorite store on the block is "Todays Country Store". Proprietors Kris Williamson and Amy McCoy really have an eye for junk and what to do with it. They have plenty of suggestions on how to use it in your home too. You will spend hours looking through their creative displays.

The shops success comes from being a unique mix of antiques, gifts and vintage decor. Because antiques are usually one of a kinds, neither the departments stores nor the shops down the street can recreate their look.

We are so excited to have them as a vendor, you will easily find their booth by the crowds they will attract. Better get there early though, the items from 'Todays Country Store' don't last long!

  1. Kris and Amy will be conducting a decorating clinic at The Funky Junk Sisters Show. Amy's house has been featured in several decorating magazines including the 2009 summer edition of Flea Market Style magazine. Amy modestly told us that Kris is better at decorating than she is so by the looks of the store and this magazine, we can't wait to see what Kris will teach us at the show!

You may visit their store at 1008 Main St. Sumner, WA.
Mon-Sat 10-6pm Sun 11-5pm.

Happy 50th Birthday Barbie!

Isn't she so vintage? Today we are officially crowning Barbie as Funky Junk Sister #6. She celebrates her 50th this year. Can you believe it? She is the ultimate modern woman and has held that title for half a century. You can check out her blog at www.alldolldup.typepad.com
Here is Barbie's first house. It is a mid century modern home built in 1960 with an open floor concept. Designer colors and plenty of built ins. One level living at its best. No features were spared in this dream house! It even came furnished! (Can you tell I sell real estate?)

Absolutely fabulous! I wasn't fortunate enough to have one of these as a child but my cousin did and I remember playing for hours at a time, day after day with it. I was lucky to score one of these a few years ago at an antique mall. I now pull it out when young girls come over. Even they can appreciate this old house!

Loved This Sign

Wow, today was a beautiful day! I took advantage of it and went on a walk. The warm sunshine was just what I needed. Along the way I ran across this sign. Cute huh? I certainly have caught this vibe and I can't wait for springtime garage sales. I'm itching to go junkin!

When I do, I'll make sure I keep you posted on all of my finds.
